Broad, watercolor-like brushstrokes make a graphic statement in Ksenia Sizaya's "Essai." As the artist explains, "I test paints and pastels on the walls and floors sometimes to see how they will look. Sometimes these tests and sketches become inspiration for artwork themselves." Ksenia Sizaya is a Montreal-based artist who was trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed her master's degree in graphic art. Sizaya says her art is influenced by abstract expressionism and modernism. "I've always been a creative person, even as a small child. Design and art have always been a major part of my life." The artist is inspired by city life imagery and the outdoors.
