Your turn to host? The soiree isn't complete without a modern cheese board and knife set. Keep it simple with a serving dish in wood or marble. Or, for a vintage-inspired look, go for a statement-making piece in metallics, quartz or crystal. Rather march to your own drum? Try a unique cheese board made of petrified wood or hand-painted stoneware. When the gang arrives, set out a variety of flavors (think soft-ripened Brie, smoky cheddar or tangy goat cheese). Then, stack appetizer plates and stemless wine glasses for a low-key affair. Pair a rich red wine with aged hard cheeses, and break out the bubbly for creamy varieties.
