"Whirl Il" is part of a series based on images from the 1940s and 1950s found in the Archive of Swing Dancing. A joyful rebellion of movement after many tumultuous years, swing dancing represented a new sense of freedom for many. "These pieces are a nod to my wistful feelings and sentimental longing for crowded bars and loud dance halls," Fey muses.
