Stephane Fontaine's "Manti" uses converging geometric forms to create a bold and dynamic image. "Inspiration came while looking at a bowl of rice. I liked how the elliptical shapes stuck to each other," explains the artist. Applying thick, off-white paint with a large trowel, the artist creates texture and harsh edges against the sequoia red background. Stephane Fontaine is an Ontario-based artist who favors exploring different materials, mediums and subjects, never settling on a single style. "The only thing that matters to me is being completely and utterly in the present moment," he says. "This is the essence of creativity."
